Personal Message
Looking back at my experiences within the nursing core curriculum, I am overwhelmed by the array of emotions I have faced. The journey of these last semesters-the BSN program-fell between extremely challenging times and deep growth for me as an individual. Perhaps one of the most grueling moments in my educational career was the capstone project in the final semester. Although the academic difficulties were immense, it was also the interpersonal factors that posed, perhaps, greater challenges because it was the very place where several senior nursing people resisted and discriminated against me: Personal Message.
Despite such challenges, or maybe because of them, I emerged more robust in my resolve for nursing excellence. Of all the meaningful experiences I had in my nursing studies, the community health project in NUR-465 stands out the most. Working in an obesity prevention initiative has really taught me valuable lessons about cultural competency and the importance of diverse perspectives in healthcare delivery. This project, while enriching my professional competencies, reassured me that inclusive and collaborative approaches to health are indeed ways forward.
This journey through the program fundamentally changed my perception of nursing leadership and evidence-based practice. From the leadership perspective of NUR-415 to the research focus of NUR-440, each class added another layer of foundation for a stronger practice in the future. These experiences have equipped me with the tools to advocate for positive change and promote inclusive healthcare environments.
Looking back, I am deeply appreciative of how this program has strengthened my resilience. Generally speaking, the workplace discrimination challenges I faced have only served to fortify my will to be a part of the positive change our profession needs. They have deepened my commitment to making environments more inclusive and supportive for the future generation of nurses, especially those from diverse backgrounds.
To those who have remained with me throughout, your encouragement only helped give me the strength to rise during the worst of times. Indeed, this last semester tested my resolve, and it is only your strong faith in my abilities that helped see me through it. To my family, who had to bear the long hours spent poring over books, working out problems, and making projects; to classmates, who, by degrees, turned into companions and friends to share this mutual learning experience.
As I finish this program, I will carry not just academic knowledge with me but also invaluable life lessons about resilience, honor, and professional ethics. While I might not be able to attend the graduation ceremony, I certainly feel accomplished. Achieving this is a great milestone in my life. It has indeed made possible the personal growth that I have been able to make toward being able to add to the nursing profession in an equitable and inclusive way.
Thus, I expect that we shall be linked and continue to assist each other in building our careers as I now stand before my classmates. With the completion of my formal studies, my contribution toward the future of nursing is just about beginning. I hope for the chance to contribute significantly to the healthcare system by putting the skills and knowledge gained into practice. One thing I will never forget is that our diversity is our strength.
What this chapter summarizes mostly is the gratitude not just for the knowledge acquired but, more importantly, personal growth from being able to come out of these very difficult experiences. Those experiences are hard on one’s ability to teach them to be a more understanding and toughened individual, yet able to serve even better. Let a brighter and higher-spirited professional rise now with an absolutely determined effort to contribute anew in our noble line of duty.

Client’s Notes:
- No cover page, the last semester was a nightmare completing my project. Rejection from older nurses and racism. I am just grateful to be done.
