Patient safety risk is a result of an impaired healthcare provider being involved in care delivery. The providers’ actions and mental state may injure the patient, surmounting a health and safety risk.

The most appropriate class of risk apparent in the case is operational risks. Operational risks are those associated with daily operationalizations and processes in healthcare, resulting in quality and safety compromises. They include human errors and system failures, among others.
