Researching and Analyzing a Controversial Issue – Mandatory Vaccination

Researching and Analyzing a Controversial Issue – Mandatory Vaccination

With time passage and technological advancements, the world today is different from what it was many years ago. The differences are shown in several aspects of daily life, such as in transportation, from chariots to electric vehicles. These changes are also displayed in hot topics and controversial societal issues. A hot topic in recent years is the topic of mandatory vaccination. Vaccinations are an important part of public health, and members of society have different opinions about them, leading to mandatory vaccinations, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the whole world.  Consistently, with mandatory vaccinations presenting issues in society, it begs the question, should mandatory vaccinations be contended? There are several aspects to mandatory vaccinations: some of these aspects include public health, ethical aspects, cost-benefit profile, and human rights.

One aspect of mandatory vaccinations is public health. I have chosen this aspect because vaccinations, mandatory or otherwise, are useful in ensuring health. Protecting individuals and society in general should be mandated, and members of a society have a right to be protected (Odone et al., 2021). Another aspect of mandatory vaccinations is ethics. This aspect is important because mandatory vaccinations are ethically well-founded for many reasons, such as public health threats and vaccine efficiency (Odone et al., 2021). Another aspect of mandatory vaccinations is the cost-benefit profile. Cost-benefit is significant in that it presents that the benefits of mandatory vaccination are worth the cost while ensuring the most happiness for members of society (Cheng, 2022). Finally, another aspect of mandatory vaccinations is human rights. Mandatory vaccinations provide immunity for society, but the mandate breaches human rights (Cheng, 2022), making it a vital aspect of the topic. These are just some of the aspects of the controversial issue of mandatory vaccination that will help establish whether mandatory vaccinations should be contended.
