Building Classroom Management – Methods and Models

Building Classroom Management – Methods and Models

Summary

In chapter twelve, we were introduced to the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework, a data-driven and evidence-based approach for implementing behavioural management. The chapter describes the elements of PBIS, such as common discipline frameworks, statements of purpose, positive expectations being made, explicit teaching methods, and procedures for evaluation and monitoring (Charles & Cole, 2019). PBIS institutions set up a school culture perspective, leading to policies addressing universal behaviour standards and responses in all school settings. To conclude, PBIS represents a systematized framework focused on preventing misconduct and timely intervention with the help of students’ positive and supportive school climate creation.

Reflection

The Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework aims to establish a positive school environment for students. This provided situation shows how PBIS can be tuned to the school’s characteristics and culture, and it helps the students comprehend how the behaviour expectations can be clear and accessible through creative and fun methods. I aspire to realize the PBIS approach in my future classroom to achieve various objectives. Firstly, to lay down explicit and regular behavioural requirements. Secondly, practice and reinforce positive behaviours before the negative ones occur. Thirdly, to play a part in a healthy and inclusive learning environment where all students are welcomed. Utilizing PBIS training will help the teachers set high expectations, teach the skills, and reinforce them all the time so that all the learners come to an optimal learning environment.
