A Proposal toward the Utilization of the $100,000 Philanthropic Grant

A Proposal toward the Utilization of the $100,000 Philanthropic Grant

Objective: The grant will go toward a community policing program. Recent evidence-based research shows that besides enforcing law and order, pragmatic partnerships between law enforcers and the community alleviate crime.

  • 50% of the grant funds will finance events to foster positive relationships between law enforcers and the community. Such events include sports events such as organizing football tournaments for the police and community members to compete. With such events, citizens will start viewing the police as part of the community and will share crucial information that could avert crime (Jannetta & Lachman, 2011).
  • Moreover, about 20% of the finances will go toward police training initiatives. Such training will focus on emotional sensitivity and ensuring the police are culturally competent. These initiatives are informed by past altercations between the police and members of the public that were avoidable if the police were emotionally aware.
  • A further 20% of the grant will go toward technological advancement. The police will use the portion of the budget to purchase technological devices such as body cameras to bolster accountability within the police department. Also, part of the technology budget will finance subscriptions to software to analyze data and identify crime-infested areas. The move will bolster police efficiency since they will allocate resources to where they are needed most (Jannetta & Lachman, 2011).
  • Finally, 10% of the funds will go toward youth mentorship programs. These programs will include activities to mentor youth toward productivity and crime avoidance. Also, the programs will seek to steer the youth from drugs by providing educational insights on the dangers of drugs.

Timeline and Conclusion

Once the grant is received, youth mentorship and community outreach will begin immediately or within the first three months. On the other hand, police training initiatives will kick off within six months to allow the police sufficient time for preparation. Finally, the purchase of technological equipment, such as body cameras, will occur within the first year upon receipt of the money.
