Zoom Meeting Questions
What new information did you acquire?
The presentation exposed me to a wide range of new information. For instance, I learned that the teaching or education profession requires showing maturity of judgment in all interactions with the university, peers, parents, and P-12 personnel. This information expanded my understanding of the role of teachers in the learning environment, including teachers’ involvement in decision-making and sustaining the relationship between students and parents. I also acquired new information on how to create a tentative teaching schedule. For example, I learned what to include each week when creating a tentative teaching schedule.
Why are disposition scores low for some students?
Disposition scores are low for some students because the students did not complete the minimum required field hours.
What does alignment mean in a lesson plan?
Alignment in the lesson plan means ensuring that the content taught in the lesson meets the lesson objectives and using the right teaching strategies based on the student’s learning needs.
Explain what Residency 3 will focus on in writing a lesson plan.
Residency 3 will focus on the tentative teaching in writing the lesson plan. The plan will be traded using TIAI to grade the lesson plan. The main domains of the lesson plan will include planning and preparation, assessment, instruction, learning environment, and professional responsibilities. Planning and preparation will focus on lesson objectives, diversity, integration of subjects, procedures, assessment, and the selection of technology that will be used in teaching. Assessment will focus on communication of feedback and expectations and using assessment to accommodate differences. Instruction will focus on the use of student input, general communication skills, enthusiasm, delivery of oral and written directions, communication of high expectations, use of student input, differentiated learning activities, cooperative learning, use of family/community resources, and content knowledge. The learning environment will be developed through routine tasks, time on task, positive classroom management, and the creation of an inclusive classroom environment. Professional responsibilities will be created based on professional activities within a lesson.
What specific information are you still unsure about in the course?
Currently, I am unsure about whether all students will be assigned one mentor teacher or whether each student will have a different mentor teacher. I am also not sure about the main responsibilities of the student when assisting the mentor teacher during Week 1 of tentative teaching.
