The World War II

The US had always been unwilling to interfere with the affairs of Europe. They tried as much as they could to remain neutral during the World Wars. Before World War 2, on the 31^st of August 1935, Congress passed the Act that maintained America’s neutrality and prohibited the exportation of arms, implements of war, and ammunition to warring nations. Important events during WW II involve the Lend-Lease Act, Hitler and the Nazi Party, and Japanese expansion, and the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

However, through the Lend-Lease Act, the US began providing the Allies during the early years of World War II with military aid. Supplies were given to the Allies, even though America would join much later ((“27.4 The Pacific Theater and the Atomic Bomb – US History | OpenStax”, 2021). When the war began, Roosevelt maintained that he could not impose his will on the citizens to do as he said. Nazi Germany was gaining significant lands as the war opened up. Also, Hitler had an ambitious plan to subdue the entire Europe and rule it under him in the new empire. Inasmuch, as Roosevelt desired to offer success, American law and public fears, played a key role in the hesitation of the USA. As such, the USA passed the Neutrality Act (“Milestones: 1937–1945 – Office of the Historian”, 2021).

Besides, after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, it is vital to understand that it was an intentional attack on US soil when it did not provoke Japan. As such, the US joined the war on the side of the Allies. Much later, the US and Japanese Imperial army’s heated warfare fought a lot until the USA dropped the Atomic bomb on the masses in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Undoubtedly, this was an attack on the democracy of the Japanese people. Until then, the war was fought between soldiers, but the atomic bomb was a direct assault on the civilians. The attack was an attack on the right of the civilians to life, regardless of their nationality.

Explain if the United States, despite neutrality, aided the Allies against the Axis powers.
Analyze if the use of atomic (nuclear) weapons to defeat enemies in war is a setback for democracy (President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb on Japan).
