Discussion – Traditional Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)
The most destructive type of WMD
In my opinion, biological weapons of mass destruction are the most destructive due to various reasons. To begin with, they are hard to control because whoever creates them may keep releasing a new strand to make it hard to eliminate it until a specific target has been met. It is also hard to differentiate between naturally occurring epidemics and attempted biological welfare attacks hence creating pain and fear among the people (Clark & Pazdernik, 2016). The prevalence of fear increases the deadliness of the biological weapons of mass destruction because people are reluctant to report that they are infected hence infecting others. This has been evident in the current COVID-19, where most people have infected others because of the fear of reporting the symptoms that could be attributed to the infection due to fear of being put under quarantine. This has resulted in over 3 million deaths globally, and the death rate continues to increase. Hire our assignment writing services in case your assignment is devastating you.
The easiest type of WMD for terrorists to acquire
In my opinion, radiological weapons of mass destruction are the easiest for terrorists to acquire because they require little skill to make, and their components are easy to find. According to Ferguson (2009), they also create damage based on the quantity of radiological material in them, hence making it easy to target a specific place while causing widespread disruption and panic in surrounding areas, which is one of the techniques used by terrorists to attract attention.

Question
The events of 9/11 demonstrated the catastrophic effects of subverting critical infrastructure. Traditional weapons of mass destruction (WMD) provide another avenue for inflicting catastrophic damage. The knowledge, technology, and materials that are needed to build WMD are spreading. If terrorists acquire chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear capabilities, they are likely to try using them, with potential consequences far more devastating than those of 9/11.
Write the answers to the following questions on the Discussion Board:
Which type of WMD (chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear) do you think is the most destructive? Why?
Which type of WMD do you think is the easiest for terrorists to acquire? Why?
