Before Reading- A Strange Story by O. Henry

Before Reading- A Strange Story by O. Henry

Firstly, looking at the title of the reading, A Strange Story, I assumed that the story’s title suggested that there would be a lot of strange or unexplainable events in the story. I initially predicted that the story would have many twists and turns. Therefore, I expected that I would be reading a work that has strange happenings. Consequently, I expected the story to be completely strange because I was not familiar with the author, O. Henry. However, as I started reading the story, I noticed that it was like any other story because of the lack of unfamiliar words. The story flowed seamlessly and was very interesting. I think that the story is more of a play than a poem because of the events in the reading. There are constant but few conversations in the reading that would imply that it a play. Although the characters do not remind me of someone I know, the work reminds me of another story that I had read before. The story’s plot was almost similar because they both talked of a disappearing loved one who later appeared at the end of the story. The story is written in a third-person point of view, omniscient. There is also evidence of imagery being used in the story, especially kinetic imagery. After reading the story, I found that it is about a family that got separated and had an almost similar event that had them rejoined. The work evolves from being strange to lively and demonstrates several universal themes, including love and coming of age. I think that the point of the story was to inspire patience among the readers. Although John Smothers disappeared that night, he later returned with medicine that helped Pansy get well. The story evolves effectively. Do you need help with your assignment ? Reach out to us at eminencepapers.com.
