Learning the Perspectives of Operations from an HR Point of View

Learning the Perspectives of Operations from an HR Point of View

I have planned an interview with the operations manager to enhance my learning of the perspectives of HR from an operations point of view. Further, I expect to learn the perspectives of operations from an HR point of view so that I can get in a position to identify the similarities and differences. Moreover, I will be able to determine how the perspectives can be strengthened or altered to enhance partnerships between the two important disciplines. This paper will delve into the expectations regarding the planned interview.

The interview with the operations manager will be conducted within the expected timelines to achieve the intended results. I anticipate the interview revealing some important aspects of leadership partnerships and future practices. First, I think the interview will reveal that leadership partnerships form an important basis for achieving set objectives within the work environment. Notably, this is so because workers play an integral role in the operations of the organization (Benjaafar & Hu, 2020). They are responsible for the day-to-day operations, and their welfare determines how effectively they will likely deliver on operation responsibilities. It is worth noting that the welfare of the workers is a subject of human resource management. For instance, human resources sets key performance indicators for workers and rewards/punishes them for attaining or not attaining them. When the set key performance indicators are attained, the organization’s operations will run efficiently. Thus, this highlights the need for a fruitful collaboration between HR and operations.

Second, I think the interview will reveal that leadership partnership between operations and human resources is an aspect of teamwork. The two functions cannot operate in isolation as they oversee the same resource, which is the human resource. The difference between the two comes in what they expect from managing human resources, with the operations management seeking to attain operational efficiency and effectiveness in the company’s operations, while human resource management will expect the human resources to contribute effectively to what is stipulated in their job descriptions. Thus, the interview is expected to reveal that the partnership between the two is focused on achieving joint results using a common resource. Although the objectives for each leadership are expected to be different based on the interview, it is expected that the operations will reveal that it is hard to separate the two functions because they share a common and important resource.

Going into the future, the operations manager is expected to offer various insights that can strengthen and reinforce strategic partnerships. For instance, it is expected of the operations manager to reveal that they will create a common platform that will be shared between the two functions. Notably, this will make it easier for the two functions to determine the progress of work and areas of joint improvement for the organization’s success (Ivanov et al., 2021). Further, it is expected of the operations manager to reveal that without strategic partnership between the two perspectives, going to the future will remain an uphill task that cannot be achieved in the long run. Thus, I expect to learn the importance of maintaining a strategic collaboration between the two perspectives based on the expected interview. The interview will underline the place of sharing a common resource between two functions that are different yet serve the common goal of organizational success. Overall, the interview will be fruitful in the sense that new insights will be obtained regarding the operations management perspective and human resource perspective and the interaction between the two.
