Importance of Planning-Early Childhood
Planning for early childhood teachers entails setting an environment to ensure the maximization of opportunities for learning to take place. The planning process includes putting teaching materials, spaces, furniture, learners, and time into perspective before delivering content. While preparing to deal with inclusive classrooms that bring together learners from varied backgrounds, cultures, abilities, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, planning becomes an essential teacher preparation strategy. Therefore, this article analyzes the importance of planning for early childhood teachers and describes some specific planning techniques.
Planning is an important tool for teaching early childhood learners because it helps make learning effective, exciting, and progressive, ensuring the delivery of a balanced curriculum that considers all children’s needs. In addition, Machado notes that planning allows teachers to enrich the classroom with the best opportunities for the learner’s age (96). Notably, while completing my internship, I learned that planning helps to ensure that learning materials are appropriate or suit the progressive learning goals of the learner. As such, planning helps teachers ensure that all students have access to similar development opportunities through a balanced curriculum.
Moreover, some of the planning strategies that I learned while completing my internship include promoting inclusivity, supporting multilanguage learners, improving access to available learning resources, and addressing the needs of families experiencing diversity. Teaching in the context of diverse communities needs teachers to build systems that bring together instructors, parents, and learners (Machado 117). As a result, learners benefit from these partnerships when all these stakeholders come together to form collaborative learning. These strategies are essential because they ensure that all learners and their families receive support that helps students achieve their learning goals.
