Case Study Design and Analysis- Aggression
Background
Tim is 25 and a husband to Cathy, who is 23. The two had to marry early because, on their first date, Cathy got pregnant, and they decided to move in and live as husband and wife. In their three years of marriage, the two got a son, Ben, who is almost celebrating his third birthday. The problem with this relationship is that Tim and Cathy often get into arguments, and when they do, they become verbally and physically aggressive toward each other. Tim uses foul names against Cathy, who usually responds to Tim with abuses and unpalatable words. Tim sometimes slaps Cathy or punches her face when the insults increase. Cathy often responds by beating him with anything she can get a hold of.

The Case Story
Tim met Cathy while working in a bar as a bar attendant, and Cathy was only looking to have a good time then. The two had a one-night affair, which ended up with Cathy getting pregnant. When she gave the news to Tim, he did not deny being the father; instead, he asked Cathy to move in and live with him. In the process, the two have learned that they are in conflict with each other and are not ready to be married. Tim finds it normal to use aggression towards women because he saw his father do the same to his mother, and he has grown up knowing that a man should not let a woman bring him down or oppose him in any way. On the other hand, Cathy was brought up by a single mother who made aggression normal for Cathy.
Analysis
Tim and Cathy are a product of the environment they were brought up in. In this case, social learning theory can be used to explain why Tim and Cathy are aggressive since it holds that a person’s social environment can lead to them behaving in a given way (Rempel et al., 2019). The aggressive behavior can also result from their regrets of having learned that they are in a relationship they do not wish to be in. Additionally, aggression can also result from some form of mental illness.
Recommendation
Since Cathy and Tim are aggressive towards each other, they need urgent help, or else they might cause serious harm to each other. It is recommended that the two should undergo counseling to help them learn that aggression should not be normalized (Smith, 2021). Such a program can take a long but cannot be the only remedy for Cathy and Tim’s behavior. The two should also go to a psychiatrist to help examine their aggressive behavior and further counseling to help them through their marriage (Ghimire et al., 2023). The interventions may also include medical treatment if the physicians find it mandatory.

Case Study Design and Analysis
For this assignment, you will identify the main concepts and terms learned in this week’s online lectures and textbook readings and create a fictional case study (which may not be related to actual individuals).
You will use the following guidelines while writing your case study:
Background: You need to describe the demographics of individuals involved in the case study, including their age, gender, occupation, education, relationships, and family history.
The case story: You need to describe a scenario demonstrating a group of individuals engaged in physical and verbal aggression.
Analysis of the case: You need to utilize the information learned from the online lectures and text readings to analyze the case study. Be specific in your analysis using supporting evidence from outside sources when needed.
Recommendations: You need to end the case study with your recommendations or suggestions you would have implemented in such a situation to assist in changing the behavior of the individuals involved in the case study.
