Career Vision Statement

Career Vision Statement

What My Ideal Career Looks Like

The career development process includes developing an ideal career, developing career goals and aspirations, and working towards meeting the long-term, medium-term, and short-term goals. My ideal career will include providing the best human resource management services and creating a work environment where all employees can implement their creative ideas and be accountable for their actions. I believe that employee autonomy is necessary for the modern work environment because of the need to create and implement innovative ideas for a competitive advantage. According to Watkins & Fusch (2021), employee autonomy promotes job satisfaction, thus reducing employee turnover. As a human resource manager, I would like a work environment where I do not have to deal with issues such as employee turnover and reduced employee productivity so that I can focus on more important things such as employee training and development, benefits, and motivation.

The Kind of Work That Is Meaningful to Me

Meaningful work is determined by what a person perceives as their ideal workplace. Meaningful work for me is work that allows me to serve other people and interact with them to exchange information and ideas that can help me achieve personal and professional growth. I prefer interacting with people with different ideas to gain new ideas and experiences and improve my interpersonal skills. I also love a challenging work environment that exposes me to opportunities where I interact with different opinions from mine so that I can develop new knowledge and viewpoints. Serving other people gives me a sense of fulfillment and motivates me to do my best to use my knowledge and skills to positively influence others, thus creating meaning in my life and career.

The Level of Responsibility I Desire

Responsibility is vital in developing skills and competencies. I desire a high level of responsibility so that I can have the drive to use my knowledge, skills, and expertise to bring positive change. Therefore, I will be willing to take extra responsibility in my workplace so that I can utilize my knowledge, skills, and expertise in human resource management to the fullest. A high level of responsibility will also increase my commitment to my workplace, leading to high productivity. According to Strayhorn (2018), commitment to an organization creates a sense of belonging, thus increasing employee motivation and contributing to high productivity. Therefore, I will look for opportunities within the organization to help achieve the organization’s goals and contribute to the changes within the organization. I am hopeful that taking on extra responsibilities will help me get a promotion in the organization.

The Type of Work Environment That Will Energize Me and Give Me a Sense of Purpose

According to Zweig (2021), the work environment influences an employee’s attitude toward work and interaction with colleagues. A work environment that grants employees autonomy will energize me and give me a sense of purpose. Employee autonomy promotes the generation and implementation of creative ideas that help employees meet and exceed an organization’s expectations (Burcharth et al., 2017). Therefore, employees in a work environment that grants employees autonomy encourage innovation among employees. Further, working under minimum supervision will enable me to use my knowledge and skills to contribute to the organization’s success, thus giving me a sense of purpose. I will also feel energized when working under minimum supervision because I will feel that the organization trusts me, thus increasing job satisfaction. Autonomy will also help me develop a sense of responsibility, thus enhancing my sense of purpose in the organization, especially if my contribution is appreciated through rewards and recognition.
