Responsibility to Supervisees and Trainees

Sections 4.01 and 4.06 stipulate that behaviour analysts should be knowledgeable and comply with supervisory requirements such as organization policies, funder policies, licensure requirements, and BACB rules (BACB, 2023). They are required to practice supervision and training within the confines of their competence as per section 4.02. They also need to take the supervisees or trainees they can effectively handle (4.03). Moreover, they are held accountable for their practices (4.04). Following the applicable requirements like BACB rules, they store, update, dispose, and create all documentation related to training and supervisory work (4.05). They also need to include topics based on diversity in their work (4.07) and engage in performance feedback and monitoring (4.08). They are permitted to delegate tasks based on competence and applicable requirements (4.09). They continuously evaluate themselves and adjust accordingly using feedback from trainees, supervisees, clients, or trainee outcomes (4.10). They are also required to minimize supervisory interruptions by making every attempt to continue the supervision practices (4.11). Lastly, they are required to plan their supervisory practice termination with the relevant authorities to reduce negative effects.

My Supervisor’s Responsibility to Me

My supervisor should only assign me roles that are within my competence as stipulated in section 4.01 (BACB, 2023). According to Bailey & Burch (2016), they are responsible for considering the client’s welfare and, on that note, need to be an ally in solving an ethical problem. Bailey & Burch (2016) add that they need not exploit me as per code 1.07. In addition, my supervisor can delegate tasks to me based on the applicable rules and requirements of BABC, license, funder, and organization policies. They are also responsible for maintaining all documentation of my work and performance and giving feedback as needed (BACB, 2023).
