Resources to Assist Children with ASD
Nevada Autism Center (NAC) is one of the resources in Henderson, Nevada that assists children with ASD and their families. NAC helps parents by pairing them with a registered behavior technician or a Board Certified Behavior Analyst who has specialized in assisting children with special needs (NAC, 2023). This resource offers to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy, including building social skills, classroom models for children with special needs, and community support for children with ASD. It also provides family guidance and mentoring for parents on how to treat and handle children with ASD (NAC, 2023). As a professional working in the field with children with ASD, this resource can be used as grounds for play-based activities as well as ABA therapy for children with ASD and guidance and mentorship programs for parents with children with ASD.
Another resource is RAD, which specializes in recreational programs, ABA training, training on mobility, family workshops, and free play activities. This resource can be used as a training ground for families or parents to teach them the skills for supporting and raising children or any family member with ASD (RAD, 2023). The training offered is more educational and not therapy. It can also be used in a training seminar for organizations and families in support of children with ASD.
The Autism Coalition of Nevada is another useful resource. It focuses on assisting children, families, and young people with autism through advocacy at the Nevada State Legislature, medical care, treatment, support services, financial aid to help with early therapeutic and diagnosis intervention, and raising awareness of autism (ACN, 2023). This resource can be used as a service and an education training ground for professionals working in the field with children with ASD.
