In my opinion, the mission statement and codes influence the conduct of the employees in an organization, thus creating an ethical corporate culture. For example, honesty and integrity are essential in creating an ethical corporate culture. Codes of conduct dictate the organization’s expectations of employees, leading to an ethical corporate culture based on what the employees should do to meet the expectations. Mission statements and codes also influence ethical corporate culture by defining an organization’s reason for existence, thus influencing how decisions are made and implemented. Decision-making is vital in creating an ethical corporate culture because the decisions affect the organization’s ability to meet ethical standards.
