Professionalism for Teachers Part 2: Twenty-First Century Professionalism (mimio.com)
For this assignment, you will become familiar with professional dispositions. As you move through your remaining education courses, you will be evaluated several times on your professional behaviors – otherwise called professional dispositions. We will examine a (sample) rubric used to evaluate these dispositions.
For this assignment, you will be required to read the rubric, summarize each indicator, identify one Strength and one weakness you possess related to that indicator, and write a personal goal statement.
For clarification:
When I refer to “indicator,” I am talking about what is listed in the first column of the rubric.
When I refer to “expectations of the indicator,” I am talking about the different levels of 0-3. The expectations are levels two (acceptable) and three (target).
For example:
Collaboration:
- Summarize the expectations of this indicator: Collaboration is the act of working with another person or group to achieve or do something. To be acceptable in this area, I must have good communication skills, collaborate and cooperate, contribute to group efforts, and respond to others. (See how I combined Levels 2 and 3 from the rubric in this summary – You do not have to list every word!).
- Strength: I do a good job communicating with others.
- Weakness: I must ensure that I respond to the requests of others. I do not always respond to groupmates on time.
- Personal Goal Statement: I will consciously try to have excellent communication skills and be respectful in all aspects of my profession.
