One of the activities in the project is creating an online training program on cultural awareness, racial profiling, its effects, and how people can overcome and prevent racial profiling, especially when interacting with people of color. The program will be created within three weeks. It will be uploaded in the fourth week after it has been reviewed by minority group representatives, social workers, and human rights activists. The second activity will be conducting a seminar to talk to law enforcement officers at the Arlington police department about racial profiling and how it can be prevented. The conference will be held in three weeks to ensure enough time to educate every police officer in the department, including those on patrol duty. The third activity will be negotiating with learning institutions to integrate cultural and racial profiling awareness lessons into the learning program. The negotiations in each learning institution will take a maximum of 7 days and a minimum of 2 days based on the availability of the institution’s leaders and their willingness to embrace my idea. A summary of key activities is presented in Table 1 below.

The critical staff individual in charge of creating the online training program is a minority group representative actively advocating for equal rights and the prevention of racial profiling, especially in the police department. The representative will develop the content that should be taught to address the racial discrimination issue and collaborate with social workers to ensure that every critical concept of racial discrimination is covered in the program. The police commissioner of the Arlington police department will be the key individual in the seminars. His primary role will be to organize the law enforcement officers into groups to attend the workshop without disrupting the department’s operations. The key individual in the negotiation with learning institutions will be one community leader in the education sector. The role of the individual will be to share the program’s benefits with the learning institutions’ heads and convince them to integrate racial profiling and cultural awareness lessons into the learning program. The community leader will partner with a social worker to gather facts that can help win the negotiations.

Materials or resources needed for the activity

The primary materials needed to create the online training program are internet access, journals, and books that can be attached as the learning materials in the program. The activity also requires someone with expertise in creating online training programs to ensure no issues are encountered when uploading and accessing the program. The primary resources needed to conduct the seminar are articles discussing the issue of racial profiling in the Arlington police department to demonstrate the extent of the issue in the department and the need to eliminate it. Other materials needed for the seminar include handouts, a projector, a laptop, and flip charts. The primary materials required for the negotiation are articles on the issue of racial profiling. According to Sajdik & Schwarzinger (2017), facts are vital in enhancing the success of a negotiation. Therefore, I can use the articles to provide factual evidence on the issue and convince the learning institution heads to embrace my idea to eliminate the issue among future generations.
