The fifth duty will be assigning beds to inpatient patients, arranging transport during patient transfers, and notifying healthcare providers of patient arrival. The Admissions Coordinator will also screen patients’ payment information and medical insurance and verify approvals from third parties. They will work with physicians to create admission charts and gather the paperwork needed to plan patient admissions.
Job Description
The Admission Coordinator will coordinate every aspect of the admission process for inpatient patients, including the assessment and screening of patients being admitted at the hospital. Medical information will vary based on whether the hospital has a record of the patient’s medical history. In cases where the patient’s medical information is in the facility’s database, the Admission Coordinator will only collect information on the patient’s current medical condition. If the facility has no record of the patient’s medical history, the Admission Coordinator will gather information about past medical issues and current issues.

The fifth step will be conducting a thorough employee screening of shortlisted applicants. The screening will include background, eligibility, and performance screening.
Background screening will focus on an applicant’s background, such as criminal records, relationship with the previous employer(s), and reason for leaving the previous employment. Any applicant fired from their previous work will be automatically rejected. Eligibility screening will include determining whether the applicant is available to start working immediately, the candidate’s location, previous or current compensation, and employment status. Therefore, they are more valuable to the organization and can fill in for absent employees in other departments. However, licenses and certifications will not be grounds for disqualification because they are not needed to complete the main roles and responsibilities of an Admission Coordinator in our organization.
