Timothy Kanhai | · Professionals should know that being a child of military families come with several challenges, opportunities, and surprises because of the frequent movements and change of locations due to deployment.
· Professionals should understand that being a child with disability from these military families can also be challenging and cause high anxiety levels to parents and children. As such, professionals should know that meditation of unique stressors with correct social support and resources will be handy for these military families with disabled kids. · Educators should use strength-founded family-focused observes that only uses family strengths to empower individual military families to achieve desired family results or goals, especially goals for their kids with exceptionalities. · Finally, educators should build collaborative partnerships, communicate frequently, show compassion, and exhibit professional ability, plus better teamwork to be able to help military families with disabled kids effectively. · In the U.S, there are several programs supporting military families. For instance, “Big Brothers Big Sister (BBBS) of San Diego” is the largest American volunteer and donor supporting and mentoring of military families. It also offers mentoring programs for military families by linking their kids to school-based mentors. |

Therefore, as professionals working with children, it is important that we understand the diverse family structures we may encounter so that we are ready to help support families’ individual needs. The purpose of this group activity is to gather research on a wide variety of family structures that you will be able to use in your final presentation. This activity has two steps. All components of this discussion are due by Day 7.
