Evaluation is an essential tool to gauge the success of an ongoing project. While focusing on specific project tasks is vital, setting aside some time to conduct the evaluation is essential. As is the case when undertaking a conventional project, evaluating an ongoing master’s degree program will determine the success status. Common factors evaluated in a program include schedule baseline, cost, alumni success, and program facilitation.

Areas to Evaluate 

One of the areas to evaluate is the schedule baseline (Shaaby A & A, 2018). Here, I will determine whether I am handling course activities on time. For instance, I will check my progress as far as my thesis is concerned. A grant chart with online task schedules and deadlines will come in handy. Another factor to consider is cost (Shaaby A & A, 2018). It is no secret that a master’s degree is quite expensive. Most people avoid it due to the cost, whereas others even take loans to finance the program. Given the significant financial investment in funding a master’s program, I will evaluate it against alternative programs to measure cost.

Consistently, I will focus on program facilitation as I conduct the evaluation. Program facilitation refers to the flexibility that can allow me to pursue other engagements. As a professional pursuing a master’s degree, I have other commitments at work that take much of my time. Therefore, I need a program that accommodates my other work commitments while still getting the best quality education.

Measuring Outcome

The outcome of a program such as the master’s program above can be measured by comparing deliverables against pre-determined goals. The scope of a project is determined at the beginning (Głodziński, 2019). Also, one must evaluate specific goals in different areas before starting a master’s degree. Therefore, to measure success, one will compare deliverables against pre-determined metrics.
