KEY LESSONS ABOUT MYSELF FROM THIS FLY-IN TEACH, AREAS OF SUCCESS, AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR GROWTH

The fly-in taught me many things about my interactions with others. I realized I am doing well in communication, conflict management, and interpersonal relations. I also realized that I am doing well in time management because I was able to meet important deadlines and create effective schedules to manage all assigned tasks. I also realized that there is an opportunity for growth in intercultural interactions. For instance, I had difficulty interacting with people from other cultures because I did not know their beliefs and values. Therefore, I need to improve my cultural awareness by learning about different cultures and their important beliefs. I can take a course to study other cultures to improve my cultural awareness so that I can peacefully coexist with people from different cultures in the international business world upon completing my Bachelor of business administration in international business. I also realized that I have an opportunity for growth in project management skills by working in project teams in different settings. I can work with experienced project managers to learn about important project management tasks such as project planning and monitoring.

MY ACTION PLAN FOR DEVELOPING THE SKILLS GAINED DURING THE FLY-IN

The main skills gained from the fly-in were leadership, critical thinking, delegation, and teamwork skills. I plan to continue developing my leadership skills by taking leadership roles in my workplace through the organization’s leadership volunteer program. I plan to volunteer as a team leader in various projects within the organization to develop my critical thinking and delegation skills. According to Barnett (22), critical thinking skills are important in leadership because they influence decision-making. I plan to develop my teamwork skills by participating in team projects within my workplace and group discussions in the course I am currently pursuing. I also plan to develop my teamwork skills by participating in community volunteer programs that involve working with community members. For instance, I can volunteer in community tree planting projects and feeding programs.

APPLICATION OF THIS BADGE TO MY COURSE

Being prepared to serve and listen to others will play a significant role in my Bachelor of business administration in international business. Business administration requires interacting with people from different backgrounds and negotiating to close business deals such as expansion into new markets and contracts to support business operations (Thuis and Stuive 20). Therefore, the badge will demonstrate my ability to complete business administration tasks and enhance my understanding of various concepts in the course. For instance, the interpersonal and communication skills required in the fly-in project apply to the different topics in the business administration course, such as business communication, marketing, management, organization, and entrepreneurship.

THE RELATION OF THIS BADGE TO MY FUTURE CAREER

The badge relates to my future career as an executive manager because it demonstrates some of the most important skills required to complete the roles and responsibilities of an executive manager. For example, communication skills are important in executive management because they help effectively communicate the organization’s goals and expectations from its employees. Negotiation skills are required to create business relationships with stakeholders for improved organizational performance (Finch and Fafinski 453). For example, the course equipped me with knowledge of different negotiation techniques and when to apply them to get a mutually beneficial outcome. The course also equipped me with knowledge on developing effective teams and how to maintain team collaboration to achieve a shared goal. I will apply this knowledge to improve the performance of teams within the organization to increase overall organizational productivity and performance.
