Contemporary Business Leaders
Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook are contemporary business leaders who lead employees in Fortune 500 companies. These executives use different approaches to guide decision-making in firms that operate in the e-commerce industry. The success of the businesses led by Cook and Bezos relies primarily on their leadership styles, which motivate employees to perform their duties excellently. The comparison of the approaches that Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook use to govern their organizations shows success factors that have made their brands market leaders to date.
Jeff Bezos is a transformational leader who uses inspirational and motivational leadership methods to direct the workplace behavior of subordinates at Amazon.com. Bezos is famous for influencing workers at his organization to align their role execution goals with Amazon’s vision statement (Solanki, 2019). Additionally, the Fortune 500 leader promotes work output that exceeds expectations amongst his followers. Further, Bezos has modeled the need for employees to prioritize customers by creating Amazon’s vision statement. Lastly, Jeff Bezos encourages his workers to embrace failure and use such scenarios to invent solutions that will strengthen Amazon’s competitive edge in the market.
In contrast, Tim Cook is perceived as a democratic leader who forms ideas and influences subordinates to subscribe to them. Cook is famous for promoting democracy at Apple, a Fortune 500 company operating in the e-commerce industry (AppleInsider, 2020). According to current studies, Cook promotes open communication and sharing ideas at Apple, which is the foundation of its success to date (Kim, 2020). Using the above approach, Cook inspires teamwork in his followers and heightened job satisfaction. Overall, Tim Cook and Jeff Bezos are unique leaders with admirable leadership styles. However, Jeff Bezos’ transformational leadership style is better than Tim Cook’s democratic method, as it includes employees in Amazon’s strategic management and influences customer satisfaction and followers.
