Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is a technology used by businesses to run their IT resources like hardware and software over a network system. Its ability to transform businesses is immense. However, many entities haven’t realized this, but with cloud computing gaining popularity, many organizations are expected to embrace this new technology because of its cost-saving capabilities for businesses.
Having a cloud service provider saves businesses from building infrastructure from scratch, where they pay only for used resources. Cloud computing also enables enterprises to analyze data on the cloud platform and derive insights that can propel the company forward by realizing the products that best sell to customers and the segment of the market it should target. Mckendrick (2012) states that cloud computing enables businesses to scale up or down depending on the demand at different times. Netflix uses this mainly when the need shoots at peak hours.
Access to computing resources over a network can improve user experience by centralizing videos from various sources like the internet, TVs, and mobile phones to any watchable device like personal computers. Therefore, users of “cloud TV” can watch any content they wish because all the information is available over the network instead of the traditional broadcast means where one has to contend with what TV providers offer. According to (Mckendrick 2012), cloud computing establishes a user interface that hides complicated details from the technology consumer.
The storage of data in data centers facilitates the storage of large volumes of information that can be analyzed through machine learning models; this can be utilized to predict specific content and information sent to a user. Apple’s Siri does this through artificial intelligence. Cloud computing is a vast technology that connects many businesses. In this regard, the exchange of information among the connected people and businesses enables efficiency, improves communication, and enhances productivity. This technology should be embraced by businesses that want to save on costs and remain competitive in their market segments.
