Annotated Bibliography-Breastfeeding
Barnes, Margaret, et al. “Evaluation of a practice-development initiative to improve breastfeeding rates.” The Journal of perinatal education 19.4 (2010): 17-23.
This article talks about how the advantages of breastfeeding for the community, family, mother, and infant are in good organization such that they increase the rates of breastfeeding, thus promoting health. The article supports enhancing breastfeeding practice and knowledge among the people that care for breastfeeding women. This means that breastfeeding requires support and knowledge even from those indirectly affected. It covers topics such as baby-friendly initiative tenets at the hospitals and practice development initiatives. Our assignment writing help is at affordable prices to students of all academic levels and academic disciplines.
The article is reliable as it is authored by academic experts such as Barnes, a disciplined leader and an associate professor at the School of Health and Sports Sciences in Australia’s University of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Together with Cox and Reed, they all have clinical experience in nursing and midwifery. The article is useful as it highlights in practice how breastfeeding mothers can be helped to ensure effective breastfeeding and not just telling them to breastfeed without knowledge or support. Other articles, such as Bryer’s, Prell’s, and Koletzko’s, mention the benefits of breastfeeding and the recommendations for complementary feeding but do not provide strategies for helping mothers who may find it hard to breastfeed.
Byers, Helen L. “The benefits of breastfeeding.” (2015).
This article discusses some of the advantages of breastfeeding and argues that mothers need to know these benefits to motivate them to breastfeed their children effectively. The article has categorized the benefits of breastfeeding into spiritual, emotional, physical, developmental, and financial. It also slightly talks about a brief history of breastfeeding. This article is more of a persuasive paper that encourages breastfeeding through its advantages.
The article is authored by an academician from Liberty University who has also referenced the works of other professional writers, researchers, and academicians to claim the reliability of the paper. This article is therefore useful for my research because it will not only inform about the advantages of breastfeeding but also highlight the various areas such as emotional, physical, financial, and psychological that can benefit from breastfeeding as well as the history of breastfeeding.
Chowdhury, Ranadip, et al. “Breastfeeding and maternal health outcomes: a systematic review and meta‐analysis.” Acta paediatrica 104 (2015): 96-113.
This article talks about the relationship between breastfeeding and maternal health outcomes. In its arguments, the article posits that breastfeeding protects the mother from ovarian carcinoma and breast carcinoma. In its findings, it states that breastfeeding also protects against the risk of type 2 diabetes. Therefore, this article is helpful in my research as it informs about breastfeeding outcomes for mothers.
The article has credible authors from the Centre for Health Research and Development, the Department of Paediatrics, the Centre for Advanced Research in Newborn Health, and the Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health, showing its reliability.
The article is unique from the other articles because it evaluates the specific benefits or outcomes of breastfeeding for mothers based on scientific research and does not just state the advantages of breastfeeding for mothers. It will therefore help my research in providing the specific impacts of breastfeeding on mothers.
Marangoni, Franca, et al. “Maternal diet and nutrient requirements in pregnancy and breastfeeding. An Italian consensus document.” Nutrients 8.10 (2016): 629.
Marangoni et al. talk about the significance of dietary and lifestyle habits in the pregnancy and breastfeeding phases for the health of both mothers and children. The article points out some specific nutrients in a mother’s diet that are essential for the health of mother and child. For instance, vitamin D, folic acid, calcium, iodine, and iron are considered important for the healthy growth and development of the infant and the health maintenance of the mother. Therefore, this article is important for my research because it reviews the dietary requirements and the health of women during the pregnancy and breastfeeding phases and points out the most vital nutrients needed. The article is authored by scholars from the University of Milan and the University of Palermo with vast experience in health sciences, paediatrics, and nutrition, thus validating its credibility and the acknowledgment of other research scholars.

Question
What is a bibliography? A list of every single source you looked at in preparation for a research project. (A works cited page includes ONLY the sources you referenced in the body of the paper)
What is an annotation? A few words which evaluate the source
Includes 3 things:
Summary – What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is.
Assessment – Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? What is the goal of this source? How does this source connect, react, challenge other sources?
Reflection – ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you? How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic?
How do I complete an annotated bibliography?
