Who’s at Fault?

Who’s at Fault?

Analyze how specific social situations and power differentials might play a role in the development of violent criminals and consider the development of dangerous violent offenders. Then, using the case from the e-activity, examine the role of the defendant’s upbringing and its association with the violent criminal act. Justify your position.

Violence leads to an increase in aggression, and this is shown through modeling. People might simply imitate any violence they observe in their day-to-day operations (Smith, 2014). There is evidence that people tend to copy the aggression they see in media or read about. Studies have also discovered strong pieces of evidence for copycat suicides. This implies that view of violence teaches people when and how to be aggressive.

In the case of Alison Cambier, a Belgian teenager who rejected the advances of her neighbor, Thierry Jaradin; the latter excused himself and returned while in a ghost-face costume with two knives. He used those knives to stab Alison thirty times. He admitted that the homicide was inspired by a horror movie known as Scream.
