What Do I Look for in My Ideal Mate
As much as I put a lot of emphasis on physical appearance, I paid more attention to aspects of personality or disposition. I have always found myself fascinated by potential partners’ looks. In particular, I prefer an individual taller than me, with an attractive face and a muscular build. I also get fascinated by someone who is a stylish dresser. Aside from these factors, the rest do not really matter to me. I was surprised to learn this about myself.
Regarding personality, some of the characteristics I would consider in a potential partner include courtesy, honesty, hard work, passion, intelligence, respect, playfulness, leadership, acting natural, strong-willed, stability, dependability, and independence (all rated A’s). These are some of the traits I have, and it would be wonderful to have someone who shares them. There are some that I truthfully lack, such as leadership, passion, and dependability, and therefore, it would be nice to find someone who possesses these traits. Communication is also a very important aspect of a relationship. I rated all A’s for factors such as being in tune with my own feelings, listening well, showing emotions, being interesting, telling jokes, letting me talk too, handling disagreements, making eye contact, exuding confidence, self-disclose, setting boundaries well, is interested in my life and accepts me for who I am (Hammond, Cheney & Pearsey, 2021).
I was surprised to rate B on the aspect of dealing well with anger. I think that I have interacted with so many individuals who have had anger issues, and I have found a way of dealing with them effectively. I feel like I can also deal with anger issues that potentially be portrayed but only to a certain extent. I do not have so many interests and therefore rated an A as an individual who enjoys family, sports, music, outdoors, TV, work, health, sex, setting goals and achieving them, shopping, and learning. I believe these findings are accurate as they are in tune with my interests and likes.
