Website Exploration-Population Health
One concept that stood out from this website exploration activity was population health. Collectively, the three provided websites provide excellent information on population health. Population health is the status of health and outcomes of a group of persons, which is an approach to health whose goal is to improve the health of a population. Subsequently, the Institute for Healthcare Improvement initiated the Triple Aim initiative in 2007 to improve the population’s health.
However, the website that intrigued me most was the IHI Tripple Aim developed by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement. This website explores many topics, including the triple aim for populations and health equity. It states that the three goals of the Triple Aim initiative include providing an improved care experience to patients, improving population health, and reducing the per capita cost of care (“Triple Aim for Populations | IHI – Institute for Healthcare Improvement,” 2022). Lowering the cost per capita income while still providing quality care will benefit many people mainly because it will give the community an opportunity and the flexibility it needs to invest in other activities like schools, which will escalate their liveliness and economic wellness. Achieving the set goals would ensure that resources have been redirected to activities with more significant results by health organizations. Additionally, completing the initiative’s goals will provide better care coordination and prevent the misuse of medical services.
Consistently, the website also expounds on health equity and how health inequity and disparities reduce health care quality for populations. Health inequities are systematic differences in the circulation of health resources among the population. These differences may be based on race, age, or class (“Improving Health Equity | Campaign for Action”, 2022). Regarding health equity, IHI aims to reduce health inequities by working with communities, organizations, and individuals to speed up the process, contributing to a healthier population (“Triple Aim for Populations | IHI – Institute for Healthcare Improvement,” 2022).
