To better understand mental illness, which is frequently viewed through the perspective of a medical system rather than a spiritual approach, she uses professional services, including psychotherapy, medications, and support groups.

The respondent affirms that cultural differences impact patients’ attitudes toward receiving treatment and their capacity to comprehend, control, and cope with the progression of a disease, the significance of a diagnosis, and the effects of medical intervention. Families and patients bring ideas and values from their cultures that are unique to their understanding of health and sickness, presentation of symptoms, hopes for healthcare provision, and views about medications and treatments. She believes that to communicate with patients who cannot understand other languages, the nurse can strive to learn the fundamentals of the local language.

Analysis of the Concept of Cultural Humility

Based on the interview, three causes guide a sojourner into cultural humility. A lifetime dedication to self-analysis and personal -critique is the first component. As a result, we must be adaptable and humble, brave enough to examine ourselves honestly, and eager to learn more. The effectiveness of understanding is the second component. The second characteristic of cultural humility is the urge to correct power disparities when none should exist (Foronda et al., 2018). We may better appreciate each person when we realize that they each contribute something unique to the concept of life. When professionals interview, the patients are the experts on their lives, complaints, and abilities. The patient lacks a corpus of information that the provider does. Societies and groups can have a significant effect on systems, in addition to individuals, who can bring about beneficial change.
