The Job Search- Logistics
Logistics and jobs associated with supply chain management are my ideal career. The career interests me because it touches on the effective transportation of commodities, and from my background search, every commodity available for sale requires transportation. Therefore, a logistics career touches almost every part of life regarding the movement of goods and services (Li, 2020). While exploring job postings related to logistics, I noted various skills and knowledge directly related to my course of study. They include strong planning skills required in the planning of the supply chain. Further, the job postings required strong financial, service, and operational commitments to help offer insight into external and internal supply chains. Notably, these requirements are directly related to the subject course of study because the aspects are covered in the course. For instance, the financial aspects, including the cost of materials and goods sold, were covered in the course, and the knowledge will be relevant to the posted logistic jobs.
Based on the job postings, there are important terms that I would include in my resume, interview, or cover letter to showcase my relevant knowledge and skills. The terms include the ability to make data-based decisions, make recommendations that will make supply chain priorities, and analyze and implement supply chain efficiencies, including special service requests, floor-ready requests, alternative transportation methods, and consolidation. The job postings require an individual with the ability to articulate an account-based supply chain. Accordingly, this requirement matches the course’s skills, topics, and modules. For instance, the identification and classification of costs learned in the module will play a great role in defining and classifying supply chain costs for the posted jobs and help develop effective cost leadership for them.
