This chapter discusses the essence of involving families in the classroom. Traditionally, families were only involved in their children’s learning through volunteering in class. Gestwicki states that parents in cooperative preschools that started in the first decades of the 20th century believed that getting parents involved in nursery school classes would teach them as parents and extend the teaching experiences available to their kids (379). This shows that parents play several roles if they are involved in the classroom. Therefore, this chapter evaluates parents’ classroom roles, such as observing their children’s company, friends, and the types of play they like engaging in. Besides, parental role in class can help students quickly adapt to the learning environment and make attachment much smoother. This chapter also discusses ways tutors can make the parents’ participation enjoyable and fruitful for everybody, including their children. In addition, the chapter emphasizes that preparation, planning of all classroom participants, and positive attitudes will assist tutors in drawing parents into their children’s learning process.
