I agree with the author’s assertions on reasoning and validity. Any argument presented logically through the process of reasoning consists of premises or reasons which justify a conclusion. It is easier to point out illogical statements than logical statements since rationality in logic has different dimensions in determining what is true and why. I agree that reasoning is either expressly based on common knowledge or what is already known, and uncertainties may change in the future. Therefore, the validity of any conclusion is not right or wrong, strong or weak. Generally, rationality and reason are used to establish subjective and objective truths since it is difficult to establish absolute truths. I also agree that logic can be explained only in the context of the validity of premisses, inference, and validity. It would be hard to dismiss statements having valid inferences where a valid premise precedes the conclusion. Great post! I, too, agree with the author’s views, specifically on how the concept of logic has been explained in terms of validity and reasoning. People indeed view presented arguments differently; thus, it may be comprehended as illogical or logical. Therefore in examining the reasoning and validity of an argument, it is important to critically explore the validity of inferences within an argument. I agree with how the idea of valid inferences is utilized to represent facts, which is essential to draw valid conclusions. Therefore in the process of reasoning in a rational way, it is possible to make true conclusions based on valid inferences and true premises.

Great post! I have a contrary opinion. I support the author’s explanation of distinguishing logical and illogical arguments. They’re in relation to the law of non-contradiction pertinent to logic and reasoning. The non-contradiction law points out that something cannot both exist and not exist at the same time. This is because when a strong valid inference is adopted, then the truth of the premise would shape the conclusion provided, which is more likely to be true. Also, as conclusions are drawn from facts while considering the premise is true, then it would be difficult to have a false conclusion. In this case, the author’s explanation shows no existence of any contradiction.
