The Challenges of Assignment and Dealing with Homework

The Challenges of Assignment and Dealing with Homework

As a teacher, assigning learners homework is necessary since it allows them to practice what they have learned in class (Rosário et al. 224). However, several challenges come with dealing with homework. The major challenge is that a teacher takes time to reflect on which assignments will benefit the learner most and how to grade the assignments. The first challenge is finding the time to create meaningful assignments. Teachers try to balance between giving assignments that will assess whether learners have understood the material and not overwhelm them with too much work outside class (Davidovitch, Nitza, and Yavich 94). Creating assignments that are neither too easy nor too difficult is important. Finding the right level of difficulty can be tricky and time-consuming. For instance, if the assignment is too difficult, learners will likely get frustrated and not want to complete it. Conversely, if it is too easy, learners will quickly finish it without learning anything new. Therefore, teachers find it challenging to create assignments that will assess the learner’s knowledge without being too difficult or easy. Do you need help with your assignment ? Contact us.

The second challenge is grading the assignments. Teachers have to grade each assignment individually, which can be time-consuming. Additionally, teachers have to provide feedback on the assignments to help their learners improve  (Davidovitch, Nitza, and Yavich 94-96). Providing detailed feedback can be challenging, especially if the teacher is dealing with a large class. For instance, it can be challenging to promptly provide specific feedback on each assignment. Reading every assignment and providing detailed feedback takes time, and teachers often have to work beyond their regular hours to grade assignments.

The third challenge is dealing with learners who do not complete the assignments. In some cases, learners may not understand the material and need extra help. In other cases, learners may be lazy and not want to do the work (Rosário et al. 225). Dealing with these situations can be challenging for teachers. For instance, if a learner does not understand the material, the teacher may have to spend extra time helping them. Also, if a learner is lazy, the teacher may have to motivate them to do the work.
