Strong academic writing
I learned that strong academic writing requires using peer-reviewed journals and books to support arguments and correctly referencing all the sources of information used in the academic paper. I also learned that storing academic writing also requires following all the format rules. The main formats I learned about were MLA, APA, Harvard, and Chicago writing styles (Williams, 2022). I learned that each style has rules that should be followed alongside the assignment requirements.
Skilled documentation in the social work field
According to Miller (2020), documentation cannot be avoided in social work because social workers require a clear record of a client’s information to create a proper intervention for the challenges they may be experiencing. I learned that skilled documentation is necessary to ensure quality care of patients in the social work field and can protect social workers from issues related to ethical compliance and lawsuits.
Which three handouts in this module did you find most helpful and why? Be specific.
The three handouts I found most helpful in the course were the PEER, SAVER, and effective dialogue response handouts. The PEER model handout gave me insight into what I should consider to write a good essay, thus improving my essay scores. The SAVER model and effective dialogue response enabled me to improve my interaction with my classmates through the discussions within the course.

The PEER model includes determining the purpose of a discussion and the key points, determining the evidence that demonstrates the main points and the facts and details, choosing the examples or explanations that readers need to understand the evidence used in the paper or essay, and its significance and determining how the thesis of the paper can be resolved, the recommendations that should be considered and the key points that offer a recap. Using the PEER model for discussions or blogs would improve the overall quality of a post and demonstrate knowledge and depth of thought to professors by enabling an author to use evidence to support their arguments and demonstrate the significance of the research based on existing evidence. The model can also help an author create a strong thesis statement, thus improving the quality of the blog or discussion.

The SAVER model includes supporting others by making thoughtful responses, applying key points and explaining results, validating points by sharing individual experiences, extending learning by adding new information that adds value to the learning process, and respecting others and the learning environment. The SAVER model would improve the overall quality of responses and contribute to community learning by introducing new information relating to a specific discussion.
