Strategizing My Clinical Rotation- Goals, Skills Development, and Evidence-Based Decision-Making
The clinical presents a chance to acquire real-life skills in patient management. I plan to complete my clinical hours utilizing a multifaceted approach that draws my preceptor and other hospital staff together. In this approach, I will continuously engage other senior staff members in clinical areas that I am not well conversant with or those that present difficulties to me. I will also engage my preceptor in areas I find difficult, and where apparent divergence between theoretical and practical aspects exists.
During clinical rotation, I would like to expand my knowledge of patient assessment, communication approaches to diverse clients, and formulation of differential diagnoses. Patient assessment is critical in diagnosis formulation, patient monitoring, and comprehensive management of various patients (Falchenberg et al., 2021). By expanding my knowledge of patient assessment, I will be able to confidently assess various patients and accurately formulate a diagnosis that corresponds with their presentation. Communication is a crucial step in healthcare interactions. In the wake of diversity in modern healthcare, being able to communicate with different groups of patients will define my excellence as a caregiver (Wulandari et al., 2022). I believe that by observing how other experienced caregivers approach trans-cultural communication and engagements with patients, I will acquire the prerequisite skills and strategies to communicate with diverse patient groups.
Evidence-based care is the epitome of high-quality and value-based healthcare approaches. I plan to use evidence to support my clinical decision by integrating research findings into my clinical decision-making process. To begin with, I intend to continuously acclimatize myself to current research findings by reading journals and other research documentation on various aspects of healthcare and disease management. These journals and research articles will be located in various biomedical databases such as PubMed. This way, I’ll be up-to-date with the latest research in medicine.
