Stakeholder Presentation

Stakeholder Presentation

Hello, and welcome to today’s stakeholder presentation. This presentation has been tailored to inform the stakeholders about the plan proposal for the organization. The scope of the exhibition also entails identifying the organizational issue that requires a change and the role of an interdisciplinary team in implementing the plan.

We will begin by describing the organizational issue to be addressed. We will then explain the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in mitigating the administrative problem. We will then provide and present a multidisciplinary plan summary. After that, we will describe the implementation of the plan. Finally, we will evaluate the effectiveness and success of the performance.

When I interviewed a nurse in the general ward unit, she reported that the incidences of ventilator-associated pneumonia have been on the rise. Essentially, ventilator-associated pneumonia is common in patients receiving mechanical ventilation. This nosocomial disease is prevalent in patients undergoing endotracheal intubation. It occurs within or more than forty-eight hours after patient admission (Martin-Loeches et al., 2018). Ventilator-associated pneumonia has increased patient morbidity and mortality rates. Patients are forced to stay longer and pay extra treatment costs (Sousa et al., 2019). Furthermore, the increased incidence of ventilator-associated pneumonia has decreased monetary reimbursements from health insurers because this disease is considered preventable.

An interdisciplinary collaborative approach can help to minimize the prevalence of ventilator-associated pneumonia. It allows the exchange of diverse professional knowledge and promotes research and evidence-based practices (Buljac-Samardzic et al., 2020). Proper team collaboration can lead to increased morale and working towards desired goals. In this context, the partnership among physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare team members will ensure appropriate strategies are implemented. The evidence-based practices to be embraced include proper patient oral hygiene, continuous aspiration of subglottic secretions (CASS), minimizing proton pump inhibitors, placing patients in a semi-recumbent posture, and minimizing the duration of mechanical ventilation (Álvarez-Lerma et al., 2018). These strategies identified by the team through research can help reduce ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) and improve patient outcomes.

The objective of the interdisciplinary team is to adopt evidence-based interdisciplinary strategies to minimize the incidences of VAP. Nurses, physicians, and pharmacists will select members to form a quality assurance team in charge of the project. The quality assurance team will be involved in training other healthcare providers, conducting performance evaluations, and giving feedback. Furthermore, the quality assurance team will reward the best-performing team members. The representative of the hospital administration will ensure that all financial costs are addressed. These include training costs and purchasing medical supplies such as CASS tubes and chlorhexidine mouthwash or gel for patient oral hygiene. Physicians will assess patients and determine the need for mechanical ventilation. Nurses will ensure a semi-recumbent position of the patient, good oral hygiene, subglottic suctioning, intubating patients for mechanical ventilation, and monitoring their progress (Álvarez-Lerma et al., 2018). Pharmacists will uphold rational medication use. An example is advising on the need to contraindicate proton pump inhibitors and ensure that the correct concentrations of chlorhexidine mouthwash are available.

The first resource allocation should be channeled to staff training. The interdisciplinary team should be trained on the importance of collaboration, the health problem (VAP), and the skills needed to handle the situation. The second resource allocation should be on medical supplies. The plan uses evac-style endotracheal tubes to facilitate the continuous aspiration of subglottic secretions (CASS) (Álvarez-Lerma et al., 2018). Furthermore, it seeks to improve hand hygiene and patients’ oral hygiene by using alcohol-based hand sanitizers and chlorhexidine mouthwash (Álvarez-Lerma et al., 2018). Currently, the hospital does not have these medical supplies. Therefore, they should be purchased. According to Single-Use Medical Equipment (n.d.), each evac-style endotracheal tube costs approximately $1 to $5. The price for acquiring around 300 endotracheal lines would be about $1500. The monthly purchase of hand sanitizer for healthcare providers is roughly $300. The monthly fee of buying a chlorhexidine mouthwash for the hospital is approximately $600. The cost of staff training will be about $800. The rewards for the best-performing team will be varied and will not always be monetary. Monthly auditing will evaluate expenditures and avoid resource wastage or misappropriation.

Failure to fully implement this plan has a negative financial implications for the organization and patients. Insurers have slashed hospital reimbursements because VAP is considered a preventable disease (Sousa et al., 2019). Accordingly, this is likely to worsen if the plan is not implemented. Furthermore, VAP destroyed the hospital’s reputation. Patients will continue to incur extra costs in treating VAP, a nosocomial infection. Consequently, they are likely to choose other hospitals for their medical services. Ultimately, this has negative financial implications for the hospital.

Various aspects will be used to evaluate the success of the project. The first indicator will be the achievement of the established goal. The goal is to minimize the incidences of ventilator-associated pneumonia. A reduction in these incidences will demonstrate success. Accordingly, this will fulfill other vital indicators: improved quality of service delivery and patient satisfaction levels. Reduced incidences of VAP mean that patient recovery times and hospital stays are shortened. This will enhance their satisfaction with healthcare service delivery at the hospital.

Furthermore, a reduction in VAP indicates a better quality of healthcare service delivery. A successful project should not have a significant deviation from the projected costs (Eskander, 2018). Therefore, the effectiveness of budget allocation will be evaluated. Better satisfaction levels of the interdisciplinary team suggest that the project is a success and that they will likely participate in the next project.

Question

Hello, this is my final assignment in this course. Please cover all areas for distinguished results. You have to use the two previous assignments to do this final paper. Order Number 44989(Proposal),and 44988(interview). Please create and modify the PowerPoint presentation. Thank you for all your help.

Stakeholder Presentation

For this assessment, you will create an 8-12 slide PowerPoint presentation for one or more stakeholders or leadership groups to generate interest and buy-in for the plan proposal you developed for the third assessment.

As a current or future nurse leader, you may be called upon to present to stakeholders and leadership about projects you have been involved in or wish to implement. Communicating a plan—and the potential implications of not pursuing such a plan—to stakeholders effectively can be critically important in creating awareness and buy-in and building your personal and professional brand in your organization. You must know how to create compelling presentations for others’ delivery and ensure they convey the same content you would deliver if you were the presenter.

You are encouraged to complete the Evidence-Based Practice: Basics and Guidelines activity before you develop the presentation. This activity consists of six questions that will create the opportunity to check your understanding of the fundamentals of evidence-based practice and ways to identify EBP in practice. The information gained from completing this formative will help promote success in the Stakeholder Presentation and demonstrate course room engagement—it requires just a few minutes of your time and is not graded.

Organize content with clear purpose/goals and relevant and evidence-based sources (published within five years) with an APA formatted reference list with few errors.
Professional Context

This assessment will allow you to sharpen your ability to create a professional presentation to stakeholders. In this presentation, you will explain the Plan-Do-Study-Act cycle and how it can be used to introduce the plan (P), implement the plan (D), study the effectiveness of the program (S), and act on what is learned (A) to drive continuous improvement. Using this cycle, the stakeholders will have a tool and a proposal to expand on these ideas to drive workplace change and create improved processes to solve an interprofessional collaboration problem.

Scenario

In addition to summarizing the key points of Assessments 2 and 3, you will provide stakeholders and leadership with an overview of project specifics and how success would be evaluated. You will essentially discuss the Plan, Do, and Study parts of the PDSA cycle. Again, you will not be expected to execute the project, so you will not have any results to study. However, by carefully examining how your plan could be carried out and evaluated, you will get some of the experience of the thinking required for PDSA.

When creating your PowerPoint for this assessment, it is essential to remember the target audience: your interviewee’s organizational leadership. This assessment aims to create a presentation your interviewee could give in their organization.

Instructions

Please follow the Capella Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations [PPTX]. If you need technical information on using PowerPoint, refer to Capella University Library: PowerPoint Presentations.

Be sure that your plan addresses the following, corresponding to the grading criteria in the scoring guide. Please study the scoring guide carefully to understand what is needed for a distinguished score.

Explain an organizational or patient issue for which a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach would help achieve a specific improvement goal.
Summarize an evidence-based interdisciplinary plan to address an organizational or patient issue.
Explain how the interdisciplinary plan could be implemented and how the human and financial resources would be managed.
Propose evidence-based criteria that could be used to evaluate the degree to which the project successfully achieved the improvement goal.
Communicate the PowerPoint presentation of the interdisciplinary improvement plan to stakeholders professionally, with clear, logically organized, and respectful writing, with correct grammar and spelling, using the current APA style.
There are various ways to structure your presentation; the following is one example:

Part 1: Organizational or Patient Issue.
What is the issue that you are trying to solve or improve?
Why should the audience care about solving it?
Part 2: Relevance of an Interdisciplinary Team Approach.
Why is using an interdisciplinary team relevant, or the best approach, to addressing the issue?
How will it help to achieve improved outcomes or reach a goal?
Part 3: Interdisciplinary Plan Summary.
What is the objective?
How likely is it to work?
What will the interdisciplinary team do?
Part 4: Implementation and Resource Management.
How could the plan be implemented to ensure effective use of resources?
How could the project be managed to ensure that resources were not wasted?
How does the project justify the resource expenditure?
Part 5: Evaluation.
What would a successful outcome of the project look like?
What are the criteria that could be used to measure that success?
How could this be used to show the degree of success?
Again, remember that your audience for this presentation is a specific group (or groups) at your interviewee’s organization, and tailor your language and messaging accordingly. Remember, also, that another person will ultimately be giving the presentation. Include thorough speaker’s notes that flesh out the bullet points on each slide.

Additional Requirements

Several slides: Plan on using one or two drops for each part of your presentation as needed, so the content of your presentation will be 8–12 slides in length. Remember that slides should contain concise talking points, and you will use the presenter’s notes to go into detail. Be sure to include a reference slide as the last slide of your presentation.
Number of references: Cite at least three sources of scholarly or professional evidence that support your central ideas. Resources should be no more than five years old.
APA formatting: Ensure in-text citations on your slides, notes pages, and reference slides reflect the current APA style and format.
Portfolio Prompt: Remember to save the final assessment to your ePortfolio so that you may refer to it as you complete the final Capstone course.</li”>
