Solutions for Mass Shootings

Solutions for Mass Shootings

Gun Control

Following the extreme mass shootings in the USA, strict gun ownership restrictions are a necessity. It involves incorporating restraining or protection orders to prevent individuals from accessing arms, especially when in crisis or are at risk of harming themselves. For instance, Australia initiated a substantial firearm buyback platform and constricted restraints on gun possession after a mass bombardment in 1996 (Kamerick, 2020). Since then, fewer international gun mortalities have been reported.

More so, the government should conduct intensive background surveys of gun owners to reduce mass shooting risks. It entails conducting mental health and drug tests and other background analysis. Furthermore, introducing a culture in which law enforcers use martial arts approaches and fewer guns could reduce accidental deaths or shootings (Kamerick, 2020). One method to handle challenging gun-shooting suspects is to circle them up and take them to the station.

In essence, developing a culture of gun protection is key to solving a mass shooting. The government should decrease gun access to youths and people at risk of hurting themselves or society. More so, firearm industries should be accountable and ascertain they conduct sufficient oversight over the marketing and arms sales. The government should involve accountable firearm dealers and possessors in implementing strategic solutions. More importantly, gun sellers should insist on obligatory training and firearm licensing. Finally, gun owners need to be keen on safe and secure weapon storage. Therefore, implementing harsher laws for individuals with domestic violence, warning orders, or performing threat evaluations for mass shooting suspects is critical for gun control. People must change the culture and improve policies to halt the cycle of gun violence.
