I Introduction:

* Identify the problem that must be solved. Plagiarism
*Cite a “direct quote” (APA) that proves the problem is real: “There are only two types of people pulling these excuses: the crafty, using the Digital Age argument to their advantage, and the completely clueless, who, like plenty in preceding generations, just don’t understand the concept of plagiarism” (Minkel, 2010, p.203).
*Propose two (2) viable Solutions: There should be a class on the concept of plagiarism. Second, to solve the Digital Age Argument, penalties should be placed on plagiarized work that does not credit the owners.

II Body Point:

*Discuss one logical solution. Schools should take up the role of ensuring students understand plagiarism. Some students plagiarize because they do not know what plagiarism entails. Accordingly, people have a tendency to copy-paste or slightly adjust information they retrieve from internet sources, then write it as their own. Students should be taught how to develop original work while using verifiable sources at the beginning of college or even in high school.
*Provide a positive quote (APA) to support the solution. “We should be teaching students how to produce original work… and that there is plenty of original thinking across the Internet” (Minkel, 2010, p.203).

*Analyze using the Ashford PIE Method.

III Body Point:

*Discuss a second logical solution. Students should always credit the owners of the work they use as sources, and failure to do so should be penalized. The Digital Age Argument is that information found on the internet is common knowledge. However, copy-pasting this information without crediting the owner is wrong and should therefore be punished. If plagiarism is punished, students will have no choice but to come up with their own work.
*Provide a positive quote (APA) to support the solution. “Excusing plagiarism as some sort of modern-day academic mash-up won’t teach students anything more than how to lie and get away with it” (Minkel, 2010, p.203)
*Analyze using the Ashford PIE Method.

IV Conclusion:

* Call to Action
* Tell the audience what to do next.
* For Example: Phone Call, Email, Letter, Petition, Advertisement, etc.…

In conclusion, considering the above solutions, it is important to file petitions to schools. These petitions would include, one, implementing policies on punishments for plagiarism. The second petition will be for schools to include classes on plagiarism as part of the curriculum.
