Significance of Public Administration
Objectivity is one of the public administration values observed in current events today. Objectivity refers to equality, respect, and fairness. In public administration events, all individuals must be treated fairly regardless of their economic or social status (University of San Francisco, n.d). In an era when discrimination is rampant based on various aspects, public administrators are still responsible for maintaining the elements of fairness. Additionally, the created policies and laws should respect other people’s rights.
The second value that is exhibited in current events is professionalism. Every public administrator enjoys some prestige because of the publicity. Therefore, the pressure to act professionally is real. Their actions could damage their reputation. Professionalism is exhibited through fair action, appropriate dressing, responsibility, efficiency, dependability, confidence, objectivity, and competence (Santos, Leal, & Serafim, 2018).
These current events are important because they benefit various stakeholders. For instance, the “Study In” initiative provides information regarding studying in the USA. Additionally, EducationUSA comprises a network of centres that offer advice. Students who intend to study in the USA can obtain information from these centres. Accordingly, creating such policies enables access to information and directly benefits students (Helms, 2015). These policies demand that the involved public administrators be professional and objective.
