Showcasing Strengths and Potential – Positioning Yourself for Success in a New Organization

Applying for a position in a new organization requires informing the organization why they should consider one candidate over others who have applied for the position. Therefore, it is important to give as much relevant information as possible and go straight to the point. One of the things I would like the employer to know about me is my unique strengths and capabilities that can be used to complete the tasks in the vacant position. The second thing I would like the new employer to know about me is my commitment to using my knowledge, skills, and capabilities to contribute to the organization’s growth. I can attach a recommendation letter from a previous employer to prove my commitment and convince the employer that I can put the organization’s needs before mine.

My Strengths Test accents my potential within the organization by indicating what I can contribute to the organization’s workforce and why I am unique and better than other candidates applying for the vacant position. For instance, the results indicate that I am a philomath, analyst, storyteller, brainstormer, and commander, as indicated in Figure 1 below.

Strengths Test Results

These attributes are important to the employer because they will boost my productivity and promote collaboration with other employees to meet the organization’s goals. For example, being a philomath will help me be more innovative because I can explore many interests, follow new paths, and acquire as much knowledge as possible to help the organization meet its goals. Being a brainstormer will also enhance my innovativeness and help me contribute to helping the company solve its problems and come up with strategies to meet its goals. I can also use my analysis skills to help the company analyze data that can be used to enhance its growth and gain a competitive advantage.
