Leadership in the healthcare industry is a diverse and ever-changing job that necessitates a certain set of talents and skills. Leadership Skills and Style

I’ve learned an important component of my leadership style and talents through this course, and I now have the knowledge I need to fully understand the necessity for more emphasis on servant leadership. Servant leaders put patients’ interests and well-being first, cultivating a culture of empathy, compassion, and patient advocacy (Maglione, 2022). I realized that in the middle of the daily responsibilities of my work at Druid City Hospital, I needed to catch up on the importance of serving people, which is at the heart of authentic leadership. In particular, at departmental meetings, I noticed my tendency to dominate talks and direct them toward my goal, which is contrary to servant leadership values. Furthermore, my focus on duties and results occasionally caused me to overlook my team members’ well-being and professional development. This newfound knowledge has prompted me to create a plan of action to improve my servant leadership talents and establish a work atmosphere that prioritizes the needs of others, cooperation, progress, and well-being.

However, I excel at taking initiative and driving projects forward and frequently demonstrate great leadership qualities. I am proactive, well-organized, and skilled at problem solutions. However, my communication abilities, particularly active listening and facilitating open discourse, require improvement. Improving my ability to fully comprehend people’s points of view and engage in constructive, sympathetic interactions will allow me to cooperate more effectively, enhance team cohesion, and lead with more authenticity in the healthcare sector.

Professional Relationship Management Skills and Style

I’ve received useful insights into my professional relationship management skills and style as a result of self-reflection and training. I’ve recognized that I have a natural tendency to take charge and drive initiatives forward, which can be useful in leadership situations. However, aggressiveness eclipses one’s ability to genuinely listen and sympathize with others, stifling successful communication and collaboration (Unruh, 2022). To enhance my professional relationship management, I plan to become a better listener, provide a friendly environment for all points of view, and emphasize the needs and development of my team members. Finally, I aim to achieve a balance between aggressiveness and empathy in order to develop deeper, more honest relationships in the healthcare industry.

Consistently, I thrive in time management and prioritization, which allows me to complete assignments efficiently. To build a more collaborative and empowered work environment, I see the need for growth in my public speaking and presentation skills and my capacity to delegate responsibilities and trust others to take on leadership roles within a team. In addition to my propensity for leadership and my skills in time management and work prioritizing, I see the importance of efficient communication in professional relationship management. Developing active listening skills and encouraging open communication are critical components of generating trust and collaboration within a healthcare team (Lansing et al., 2023). In addition, I will concentrate on more effectively allocating responsibilities and entrusting team members with leadership roles that match their skills and interests. I plan to establish a work atmosphere that not only emphasizes efficiency but also stimulates collaboration, innovation, and the professional progress of my team members by striking a balance between assertiveness and empathy, as well as enhanced communication and delegating abilities. This comprehensive approach to professional relationship management will allow me to develop deeper, more real partnerships in the healthcare industry.

Cultural Engagement

Engaging with the many cultures in the workplace is critical for me to become more effective as a healthcare leader. To begin, I may build cultural competency among my team members by creating an inclusive environment in which people from many origins feel appreciated and respected. Cultural sensitivity training, open discourse about diversity, and acknowledging and celebrating cultural differences are all part of this. Listening to team members from other cultural backgrounds’ concerns and perspectives not only builds empathy but also allows for more comprehensive problem-solving and decision-making (George et al., 2011). Finally, I may set a good example by embracing diversity and displaying cultural humility, realizing that I have a lot to learn from my team’s different experiences and talents, improving the quality of patient care and the overall efficacy of our healthcare organization.
