Identify which option you chose and indicate the products and/or services the company provides.
I chose option 1, the creation of a new natural skincare cosmetics company known as Organi-care Ltd. At Organi-care, we shall make high-quality natural skin care products that are purely 100% organic. We have a unique formula for making skin products such as body oil, perfumes, and creams from naturally found organic materials such as plant leaves, stems, roots, and flowers; and even animal oil. We decided to launch this company because we can create a unique product that will benefit many people who have problems with their skin when using non-organic products. Moreover, we decided to specialize in natural skin care products because consumer behavior has shifted from synthetic to organic products (CBI, 2020). This is because of the adverse side effects synthetic products have on their skin.
Describe the ideal qualities and characteristics of the company employees in terms of creating a creative and innovative culture.
At Organi-care, we will have a very talented, experienced, and skilled staff that will ensure that we develop high-quality products that would effectively compete in the natural skincare products market. We want to build a workforce that will create an innovative and creative culture. In this industry, innovation and creativity will set a firm apart from others, and we want to be that firm with a strong innovation and creativity culture. Some of the characteristics and qualities that we expect our employees to create this culture are: first, they should be visionary and perceive challenges to be an opportunity to learn (Prather, 2009). Innovative and creative employees welcome challenges since they know that a challenge is learning new things.
Secondly, employees who will bring an innovative culture welcome change; such workers do not resist change for fear of losing a job or changing roles. Employees who bring a culture of creativity and innovation are curious to learn and experiment with new things. Such employees are occupied with the thoughts of coming up with new ideas and ways of solving problems. In Organi-care, we shall look for such characteristics when recruiting and hiring employees.
Describe the ideal background and experience needed for company leaders to foster a culture of creativity and innovation.
The ideal background and experience required of a firm’s leaders to foster creativity and innovative culture area; first, the leaders should welcome new ideas and tolerate other peoples’ opinions (Prather, 2009). When we have leaders who listen to the employees and use the ideas raised, such leaders will probably foster a culture of creativity and innovation. Secondly, to boost innovative cultures, leaders should be open and ready to allocate more resources to the research and development department (Thedieck et al., 2013). Coming up with new technologies and processes requires thorough research that consumes a lot of resources. Thus, the top management should be ready to spend large sums of money on the research department to empower it to innovate more.
Another characteristic of leaders who foster creativity and innovation culture is that leaders should be collaborative and discovering. Collaboration here does not only mean working closely with the innovative or research team, but it also means taking leaps of faith together in discovering new ways of thinking and coming up with more outstanding outcomes (Thedieck et al., 2013). Leaders should not sit far from the innovative team. They should often inquire to find out what is going on and know the progress of a particular project. When innovation occurs, leaders should be the first ones to celebrate and also organize to reward the team for encouraging it. A collaborative leader would encourage the employees or work hard and effectively.
Identify the two most important leadership qualities and characteristics the employees should have to be effective leaders.
The two most important leadership qualities that employees should have are effective communication and being charismatic. Effective communication and effective leadership are intertwined, meaning that one must have a high degree of effective communication to be an effective leader (Thedieck et al., 2013). To be an effective communicator, one should be able to speak different languages and easily interpret non-verbal communication. Moreover, effective communication regularly updates the team on every progress to keep the team informed. Interpersonal communication is an essential skill that leaders or employees should have; having these skills enables one to know how to interact with others without offending them. Therefore, both employees and leaders should master the art of communication (Prather, 2009). Being charismatic is the ability to have a compelling attractiveness or charm that can inspire devotion within the team. Charisma is an essential leadership characteristic employees should have to work with others in a team easily. Therefore, while recruiting employees in Organi-care, we shall look for people who can communicate effectively and also those who can influence others.
Discuss the ideal organizational culture and how it would foster creativity and innovation among employees.
An organizational culture that fosters creativity and innovation has open-minded people who share their thoughts with others. Sharing ideas leads to the development of new technology or processes. An ideal culture has respect in that every employee is given the respect he deserves, and the top management freely intermingles with the junior employees (Prather, 2009). Such a culture eases the tensions and stress among the workers, and thus, workers are free to tell their leaders what they think, and this could lead to innovation besides encouraging creativity. Another organizational culture that fosters creativity and innovation is the culture of research and experimentation. Likely, an organization that invests in research would consistently innovate new ways of doing things. At Organi-care, we shall establish a research and development department, and we shall equip the team with the latest technologies that will enable them to innovate more.
