Radio Script for the IMC Project Presentation
Welcome, and thank you for tuning in! My name is Sherita Dobbins, and I’m thrilled to be speaking with you today about an urgent public health effort to boost COVID-19 vaccination rates among daycare-age children in Mississippi: Radio Script for the IMC Project Presentation.
Immunization is the most effective method of safeguarding children against serious illness and avoiding the transmission of infectious illness. Yet, numerous parents are concerned about vaccine safety, side effects, and myths on social media. Some parents also face access barriers because of obstacles such as transportation, work schedules, or distrust of the healthcare system.
Our campaign would tackle these difficulties by offering simple, evidence-based information from credible and trustworthy sources. Lazarus et al. (2022) conducted a study and they demonstrate that individuals’ confidence in being vaccinated is significantly increased when healthcare professionals, daycare personnel, and community leaders approach parents individually.
One other note of importance to our campaign is the use of the PESO model—Paid, Earned, Shared, and Owned media—to reach as many families as possible. We are working with pediatricians, child care centers, and places of worship to distribute information flyers, answer questions, and hold in-person and virtual Q and A forums. That means targeted outreach online on social media, educational videos, and online webinars featuring medical experts and parents who chose to vaccinate. Besides, Sallam (2021) notes that the accurate use of culturally specific messages to influence people is one of the most promising ways to affect health behaviors.
With access to local clinics, pharmacies, and mobile health vans, we work with partner clinics and pharmacies to provide free or low-cost vaccinations in the community centres, schools, churches, and elsewhere.
This really feels like a call to action rather than an awareness campaign. Visit our website or talk to your physician and join us in protecting Mississippi’s kids and keeping them healthy.
Thank you!
