Project Scope

Project Scope

Project Description

The project was initiated after the U.S. Army, Ground Forces, and Special Operations described its need for a new backpack product with a built-in refrigeration pouch and radio module. The client ordered a total of 200 units of the backpack. The customer expects the products within the following two years from the current date. The first batch of 100 units is expected within one year after receiving the order. However, delivery will be broken down into two delivery times (50 units every 3 months). Project Assumptions

The project team assumes that every stage of the project, including product design, product development, and project completion, will be completed within the estimated time. Also, the project team assumes that the project will be completed within the proposed budget without incurring extra costs that may lead to a loss for SuperPacks. Thirdly, the project team assumes that the technology available at SuperPacks will allow the team to complete the project effectively. Fourthly, the project team assumes that the customer will be available to test the product as agreed.

Project Goals

  1. The new backpack project will contribute to a 30 percent increase in revenue at the end of two years.
  2. The new backpack will surpass all the other backpack models in the market, thus increasing the market share by 35 percent.
  3. The new backpack product will increase the company’s visibility making it the leading company in the sector at the end of three years after project completion.

Project Limitations

Specification limits – specifications limits may pose a challenge to the project team because they are customer-related. The project team will utilize quality management, but the customer is likely to show some dissatisfaction, especially after initial delivery, thus swaying the project. Other types of limitations include human limitations and vendor and supplier limitations.
