Program Learning Outcomes Final Paper-The MAECEL graduate
Narrative – Ranking
The most important Program Learning Outcome (PLO) to me is “The MAECEL graduate will evaluate evidence-based theories and strategies aligned with early development and learning needs to support high-quality learning environments” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This PLO is vital to my work environment because working as an early childhood educator within a school requires using strategies and theories that align with early childhood development to ensure that learning is tailored to meet learners’ needs. The PLO will also ensure that I support high-quality learning settings because I will often evaluate the strategies and theories I use for my instruction.
“The MAECEL graduate will assess effective communication and collaboration strategies to positively influence partnerships with community agencies and families with young children” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This is the second most essential PLO because, in any institution, both preschool and elementary, every person must respect and learn to work with others for the learning process to be effective. Besides, partnership or collaboration with teachers, families, stakeholders, and community agencies is essential as it helps the involved parties understand the learner’s educational needs and strive to assist them in achieving them (Matteson, Anderson & Boyden, 2016). Within the current society, teachers, parents, and schools must work in partnership or collaboration with one another to raise learners correctly in diverse environments. As such, this helps create better conditions for safety and healthy learning policies and procedures to be effected, and this means that every adult must be involved in children’s education. This PLO is also essential because I use it in my working area to collaborate with parents, colleagues, and students to ensure smooth and effective learning meets every learner’s needs.
“The MAECEL graduate will evaluate early childhood curricula designed to promote development and learning across all domains of development” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This is the third most essential PLO for me as an educator. This is because this PLO can be used to assess early childhood curricula designed to promote learning and development across all domains of development (Burnaford & Brown, 2014). For instance, I will use this PLO to design my instruction to encourage cognitive, physical, social, and linguistic domains of development among learners. These are vital developmental stages for young learners, which must be enhanced through learning and well-designed curricula.
The fourth important PLO is “The MAECEL graduate will design discipline-specific action research based on relevant theory and research methodology” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This PLO is vital to my career and my current role, and I plan to use it to advocate for needful and vital changes within early childhood education. Therefore, within my role, I would use action research and my personal experiences to participate in various collaborative teacher action research studies to direct and improve the learning experience. As an educator, I would use this PLO to assist educators and administrators in researching and addressing future educational challenges and being more innovative by adopting more engaging teaching approaches and learning experiences. Taking part in action research while taking this unit has helped me develop vital skills such as planning, patience, timing, implementation, and communication, which will be handy for my future and my career.
The fifth essential PLO is, “The MAECEL graduate will evaluate effective assessment and evaluation strategies, tools, and procedures designed to improve outcomes for young children, families, and programs” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This PLO will benefit me greatly as an educator by guiding me in choosing appropriate assessment and evaluating tools, procedures, and strategies designed to improve young learners’ results. Most importantly, I will use this PLO to ensure that assessments are tailored to meet the individual needs of learners and the results are appropriately communicated to parents and families.
The other PLO is “The MAECEL graduate will propose ethical solutions that promote educational transformation in early childhood education” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). As an educator and head of preschool tutors, this PLO will be used in making ethical decisions and finding ethical solutions that will promote educational changes appropriate for early childhood learning. This PLO will also help me as a tutor to conduct myself ethically and encourage my colleagues to behave ethically and execute roles ethically.
The last PLO is, “The MAECEL graduate will construct a personal definition of leadership as an early childhood education professional” (University of Arizona Global Campus, 2021). This PLO will help transform my understanding of leadership as an early childhood educator. For example, after taking this course, I have realized leadership is more than just guiding or leading people. It means taking responsibility and taking risks by challenging the status quo. The leader’s role is to motivate others, including learners, to strive to achieve something better and newer. Therefore, this PLO will help me in my career to grow into a professional early childhood education leader who not only leads and guides people but as a person who is ready to take risks and challenge the status quo by motivating everyone to achieve whatever they want to regardless of the challenges. Most importantly, this PLO will enable me to advocate for positive transformations in early childhood education to improve learning.
Narrative – Challenges and Solutions
The challenge I experienced while developing and designing my Folio was ensuring I prioritized and appropriately displayed all the necessary projects and works. Ensuring that I provided an employee a glimpse of what I could do and to what extent I had progressed within my career was challenging. The second challenge was ensuring I used the correct design and format to ensure my folios looked simple, well-planned, and easy to navigate while reading or reviewing them. The solution for these challenges was developing self-confidence, researching, self-evaluation, and reflection, which helped ensure my knowledge and skills were well-reflected work and folio.

Question
Narrative – Ranking (5 Points): In no more than one paragraph for each Program Learning Outcomes, rank and discuss the importance of each PLO to your individual work setting, including an explanation of each ranking and its value to you in your learning environment or your position. Discuss how you currently use each PLO in your work setting and, if PLOs are not used, discuss ways you might begin to use them in your current or future work setting. If you are unemployed or otherwise do not work in a teaching role, you can either (a) use a previous work location, or (b) imagine the perfect work location (e.g., your dream job), and use that fictional work centre to rank and discuss each PLO. The overall goal of this section of the narrative is to rank each PLO according to its importance to you as an educator or potential educator, starting by listing the most important PLO to you first.
Narrative – Challenges and Solutions (5 Points): In no more than two paragraphs discuss the design and development challenges experienced while creating the Folio and how challenges were overcome.
