My Opinion on the Professional Use of Social Media
In my opinion, professional use of social media is the process of using social media for corporate activities, such as when using social media for marketing, selling items, having corporate meetings, or for academic purposes, like students’ social media platforms. This is in line with the ideas discussed by (Mahoney et al., 2022), who also argue that social media is used professionally when it is used for learning about other companies, getting a media presence for one’s business, and for professional meetings. As such, the personal opinion on the use of social media is not very different from the perception taken by scholars.
Communicating Professionally Through Social Media
When communicating professionally through social media, one should acknowledge that it is not very different from other forms of communication like phone calls and even face-to-face communication. Therefore, the language must be professional to avoid being offensive (Oksa et al., 2021). Consistently, digital etiquette should always be displayed when using social media to communicate. Additionally, it is important to communicate using the right tone via the most appropriate app or tool. Lastly, conciseness and clarity when writing or communicating through social media are also imperative for better understanding.
How Organizations Use Social Media in a Professional Context
The company chosen for this exercise was HP, which was found to be using social media effectively to market, gain media presence, and conduct promotions. According to research, it was discovered that the company uses social media at least twice a day.
Results of My Research on How Social Media Promotes a Professional Online Presence and Ways Organizations in the Psychiatric Field Can Use Social Media to Promote the Organization
As an individual, I can use social media professionally to communicate, market ideas, and also for professional meetings. For communication, I can use it to post issues surrounding behavior challenges and how to remedy them. I can also use it to market our counseling agency. I can also use it to hold brief meetings with clients and colleagues. Companies in the psychiatric field use social media mainly to conduct online treatments and connect with clients.
