The COVID-19 pandemic has caused most people to abandon eating out due to the fear of contracting the virus and in compliance with the set rules and regulations. Relaxation of these regulations is a relief to most individuals, including my friends and I. We decided to look through Trip Advisor to find new dining places that offered authentic cuisine. Our search landed us on Popo’s Fiesta Del Sol, which is ranked 223 out of 3310 eateries in Phoenix. The restaurant has at least 120 reviews by visitors who have already frequented the establishment (TripAdvisor LLC). From the reviews, we expected great customer service, quick turnaround time, authenticity, good ambiance, and tasty Mexican food. To confirm this information remotely, we visited the restaurant’s website and viewed the menu, which had a wide variety of items. The most exciting offer we found on the website was the ‘All-U-Can-Eat Monday’ (Popo’s Fiesta Del Sol Mexican Food). We planned to visit the restaurant on 9 November 2020 to enjoy the offer.
We visited one of Popo’s Fiesta Del Sol branches at 6542 W Indian School Rd, Phoenix, AZ. The restaurant opens from 11.00 am to 9.30 pm. We had already made our reservations on the phone for 5.00 pm. The hotel staff confirmed the reservations promptly, creating a positive impression regarding the kind of service we would experience. We were excited about the dinner and arrived 30 minutes early. After all, my three friends and I had not met for a long period due to travel restrictions. We were seated promptly and asked to wait for our table’s waiter, who arrived immediately. We reviewed the menu once again and had the waiter explain some of the dishes. The waiter was very helpful as we were confused about the dishes we wanted to try. After we made our orders, the waiter asked us to wait for 15 minutes and brought us drinks of our choice. The waiting period gave us time to catch up with each other. One of my friends visited the restaurant’s Facebook page and found that people liked, talked about, and checked into the restaurant in the thousands.
While at the restaurant, we noticed the peaceful ambiance and atmosphere that allowed clients to have conversations. The restaurant’s management ensured that seats and tables were arranged spaciously in compliance with the COVID-19 requirements. Therefore, the reservations allowed for proper planning while avoiding overcrowding. The waiting staff and other employees were meticulously dressed. They also appeared very knowledgeable and skilled in their roles and responsibilities. The facility was clean and looked very presentable. The staff attended to all guests promptly, remaining within the vicinity in case the clients needed further assistance. My friends commented about these aspects considering that they lacked in most restaurants.
We had a variety of meals to suit our varying preferences. I had fajitas, while my friends had tacos and chimichanga. A chimichanga is a tortilla with different kinds of fillings. Fajitas are grilled meats that are served with tacos and corn tortillas. Tacos are tortillas with fillings such as vegetables and avocados. The other fillings that the restaurant offered included shredded chicken, ground beef, beans, seafood, and machaca. Without a doubt, my friends enjoyed their meals thoroughly as each commented on how tasty and delicious their dishes were. The seasonings were balanced, bringing out the various spices that were added during cooking. In addition, the portions were generous, leaving us too satisfied to order more items. The salads’ ingredients were carefully combined to ensure that each complemented the other. I enjoy spicy food. This was my first time eating Mexican food, which resonated perfectly with my taste preferences. However, the food was too hot to enjoy immediately after it was served. We had to wait for a few minutes before we could enjoy the food.
We finished our dinner at 8.00 pm, as we were not in a hurry to leave. We stayed for longer to enjoy the drinks that we had already ordered during the ‘Happy Hour’ session, beginning from 3 pm to 7 pm. We left the restaurant at 9.30 pm. By this time, most of the clients had left, and the staff were tidying up the area and clearing the tables. Each of us felt that the restaurant met our expectations. This enabled us to realize the value of the money that each person had spent on food and beverages. The best aspects of the restaurant were its food and the great customer service, which made guests feel valued. In addition, the staff embraced the feedback that each individual provided regarding the food and the service. We all agreed that we would go back in the future to have frequent dinners at the establishment. I understand the large followership that the restaurant has, as it satisfies a good number of these, leading to loyalty. I would recommend the restaurant to individuals who would like to try Mexican cuisine and those seeking fairly priced and well-prepared meals.
