Personality Assessment and Psychological Evaluation

Personality Assessment and Psychological Evaluation

Client’s Basic Information

The client’s name is Samson Walters. His date of birth is September 28, 2005. Samson is an African-American teenager. It has been reported that he has always been quiet and reserved. He rarely participates in social engagements with his colleagues and reports that such activities drain him. He reports that he always finds it difficult to initiate a conversation with a stranger. However, he is always jovial and talkative around his friend, Jacob.

Reason for Testing and the Types of Tests

The reason for testing Samson is to classify him into the descriptive category of being an extrovert, introvert, or having psychological problems. The test that will be administered is the Personality Inventory test (Carl et al., 2020). Assessment of personality inventories helps to identify the attitudes and personality traits of a person. They also facilitate the identification of emotional or psychological disorders. These tests are important because they will help to determine whether Samson’s behavior is due to his personality traits or other psychological disorders such as depression. The personality tests will be standardized and individual. These tests will contain structured questions and instructions on the administration and score allocation. Two methods can be used to assess personality. They include the Rorschach Test and the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI).

Validity, Reliability, and Reasons for Selecting the Tests

The validity of the tests will be indicated by the lack of bias and the influence of the tester’s own beliefs. Reliability to measure is whether the tests produce the same outcomes under similar conditions. This will be indicated by the results obtained from the tests. The MMPI test has an additional validity and reliability scale that can help to address the two aspects (Whitman et al., 2021). The Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory was selected because it has been validated globally. Furthermore, it helps to diagnose personality disorders such as depression, paranoia, and introversion. This is relevant to the client. The Rorschach test will be selected because it will help to examine emotional state and personality traits (Choca et al., 2018). This will be useful in determining the personality traits of Samson Walters.
