Personal Statement for Scholarship Application

A nursing career has been my dream since I was young. Therefore, I have dedicated my life to working towards realizing this dream. Fortunately, I had the opportunity to study for a Bachelor in Nursing. I specialized in wound care because I enjoy helping others and watching the progression of wounds as they heal. I look forward to a successful career in wound care by educating healthcare professionals about proper wound care management practices. I have been leveraging my vast experience in wound care, which I have acquired over several years, to create and share new ideas in my workplace. Our assignment writing help is at affordable prices to students of all academic levels and academic disciplines.

I worked as an LVN Charge Nurse at Collinwood Nursing and Rehabilitation between February 2014 and December 2014. I then worked as an LVN Field Nurse in Methodist Home Health Care between June 2015 and February 2017 and at Kindred At Home between December 2016 and May 2018. I began practising as a registered nurse (RN) in March 2018 after joining Wise Health Systems, where I worked as an RN Float Pool between March 2018 and December 2019. I also worked as an RN Case Manager at Orthopedic Home Health but was laid off after the COVID-19 pandemic. I resumed practice in 2020 after joining Medical City, where I have been working as a Wound Care| RN Case Manager. I also worked as an RN Pediatric Case Manager for Medical City from June 2021 to March 2023.

My work has significantly impacted my patients by helping them recover faster and be patient in their recovery journey. I use my emotional intelligence skills and empathy to help patients deal with their frustrations about their recovery process, making it easier for my colleagues to attend to them and offer the best care. I have also impacted the healthcare setting through my work by creating a positive reputation for the healthcare facility and encouraging patients to collaborate with their nurses in the treatment process by giving honest feedback about how they feel and following the healthcare professionals’ instructions on resting requirements and how they should take their medication.

Currently, I hold a committee chair position at my current job for the Wound Care Committee. I also co-chair the Evidenced-Based Practice Committee. I am also the Wound Care Department’s team leader and head of the Pressure Ulcer Prevention Survey. Being a team player in my workplace has challenged me to further my education to help educate my patients based on evidence-based practices. I also aspire to educate my colleagues on providing the best wound care, decreasing hospital-acquired injuries, and reducing hospitalization while improving the overall quality of life of the patient. However, I am unable to further my education because I am a single mother of a college student. I am also struggling to pay back my student loans after completing my Bachelor’s in Nursing. Therefore, I am requesting a scholarship from your institution to advance my knowledge and competence in wound care.

I believe that obtaining an MSN with a focus on wound care from your institution will help me achieve my overall goal of educating my fellow nurses on wound care. My other goal is to improve evidence-based practice in wound care. The MSN in wound care will be essential in educating me about the new evidence-based practices in the healthcare setting that apply to wound care and how I can improve the quality of care for wounded patients, thus enabling me to achieve the goal of being a wound care specialist.

In conclusion, I will be highly honored to join your institution, especially because of your great reputation for offering high-quality education. I will dedicate my time to learning and meeting your academic requirements to create a mutually beneficial relationship and honor your values. I will also use the knowledge, skills, and competencies gathered from the MSN course in your institution to make your institution proud by being among the best wound care healthcare professionals.
