Methodology

In this study, the methodology will include both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The quantitative approach will include the use of systematic reviews in addressing the problem statement. The main studies whose literature reviews will be featured in the study must meet specific qualifications. Firstly, the articles’ publication dates should be from 2012 or later than 2016. They should be published on print or online platforms. The articles must be peer-reviewed as well. The samples used for data collection in the studies must be 18 years or older and should have suffered from chronic pain for at least three months. Systematic reviews are ideal for comparing evidence from different studies that have been conducted in the past. The use of specific articles is critical to ensuring that the study yields a reliable conclusion (Snyder, 2019).

In addition, the use of a survey to collect primary information will also be deployed. This qualitative aspect will include a 6-questions survey that will be transmitted to physicians. It will target primary caregivers in Maryland. All participants will be expected to provide their consent to ensure observation of ethics in the study. The use of surveys is important as it enables the respondents to answer provided questions, which are expected to give specific information that is relevant to the study. Surveys have been chosen due to their ability to save the researchers’ time in comparison to other data collection methods, such as interviews, which demand the presence of both parties. The surveys may be sent online to further reduce the cost and transmission time (Evans & Mathur, 2018). Thus, the mixed approach is expected to provide the researchers with actual practices in the field and theoretical ideas regarding the topic under investigation.
